Keeping Your Bathroom Clean When It’s In Constant Use

Bathroom cleaning can seem like a never ending battle, but it doesn’t have to be an overwhelming task.

We’ve put together some quick and easy tips to help you keep your bathroom clean and hygienic, no matter how busy your household is!

Tip 1: Disinfectant Wipes

For quick and convenient cleaning, make Lysol®  Disinfectant Wipes your best friend in the bathroom. Our wipes can be used to wipe down sinks, tiles, toilet seats, bathtubs, trash cans and the bathroom floor, and they kill 99.9% of bacteria when used as directed. They help tackle germs, as well as stains, so there’s no need for multiple cleaning tools. Keep a pack of disposable disinfectant wipes tucked away in your bathroom for a quick and easy clean. Wiping down the areas prone to dirt and grime regularly will only take you a few minutes and will save you a lot of time when it comes to deep bathroom cleaning.

Tip 2: Tackle the toilet

Leaving the toilet lid up when you flush can spread germs all over your bathroom (even to your toothbrush), so always close the lid before you flush. You should clean your toilet bowl weekly with toilet cleaner and a toilet brush and then wipe the toilet seat, lid and flush handle with disposable wipes - just toss them in the trash afterward.

Tip 3: Shower and bath

It’s a good idea to open the window, keep the fan running and close the bathroom door when taking a shower or using the bath. This will help prevent the build-up of mold and mildew. Otherwise, products such as Lysol® Power Foam Bathroom Cleaner help tackle mold and mildew quickly, leaving your bathroom clean and shiny without the need to scrub. When you finish in the shower or bath, simply spray the foam over the surfaces such as the shower door, tiles and bathtub and then easily wipe them down with a microfiber towel. Encourage your family to do the same and it will help to prevent the build of mold and lime scale, lessening your cleaning time in the long run.

Tip 4: Little and often

Cleaning your bathroom little and often when you have a few minutes to spare can save you a lot of time and effort in the long run. Keep a pack of disposable disinfectant wipes under the bathroom sink so you can wipe up any toothpaste, water marks and other spills before they have the chance to dry and become tougher to clean. Also, try to get the men in the family into the habit of wiping down the toilet seat after going so that it is clean for the next person.

Tip 5: Don’t forget your towels

Towels, bath mats and shower curtains are an excellent breeding ground for germs, so don’t forget about cleaning them, too. Try to wash your bath mat and towels once a week on a hot wash (at least 140°F) with Lysol Laundry Sanitizer, which helps to disinfect them and eliminate odor-causing bacteria. Always hang your towels up to dry once you’ve finished using them. If they have been left on the bathroom floor, then it’s probably a good idea to stick them in the wash.

Tip 6: Multi Task

Bathroom cleaning little and often will save time when it comes to deep cleaning your bathroom, but that doesn’t mean you can skip it all together. Luckily, there are ways to make your deep bathroom clean more efficient. Start by putting your toilet cleaner in the toilet bowl and tackle another area while you wait for it to start working. Clean from top to bottom, working your way down from the walls and tiles, to cleaning the floor last. Don’t wash your sink until the end of your deep bathroom clean in case you have to wash or rinse any cleaning cloths as you go.

So there you have it, hopefully by including these tips into your bathroom cleaning routine, you will save yourself some time and maintain a clean bathroom for longer.
